Welcome to my first ever non bookish post! I hope you guys don’t mind the change in subject, but as some of you may know, I’ve been trying to focus on improving my diet and general health lately, plus I’m quite passionate about vegetarian food, so I thought I’d share the recipe for one of my favourite recent creations.
Smoothie bowls are great because they’re such an easy way to get in your daily serves of fruit, plus it’s fun to customise them to your personal preferences. They’re also super refreshing, which is great, as the weather where I live has just started to heat up.
The following recipe makes one bowl, and based on the ingredients I use (which I’ve linked in the ingredients list) it comes to approximately 310 calories. However, this can vary based on which brands you use.
For smoothie bowl
- 1 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1 cup of skim milk
- 1 tablespoon of low fat vanilla yoghurt
- 1 small banana
- Put the strawberries, milk, yoghurt and banana into a blender and mix on a low level setting until the mixture reaches your preferred consistency. Personally, I like my smoothies quite thin and without any chunky bits, so I leave mine in the blender for a couple of minutes.
- Pour into bowl, add toppings, and enjoy!
Don’t like strawberries? No problem! This recipe works just as well if you swap the strawberries out for a different fruit. Some days I like to use a cup of blueberries instead (as pictured below), just to mix things up.
